My creative process allows paint to bleed through the canvas, which is then flipped. Paint remnants soak through and become the visible outcome. What I create, is in my control, but the final image, is not. This is an amalgamation of choice and chance. By researching psychoanalysis and its applications I have discovered that there is a separation between what the artist intends to create, and what is seen by the viewer. I lean into this as a way to represent othering. This innovative way of creating has become a therapeutic process for myself, a way to claim ownership over my thoughts and feelings whilst rejecting those out of my control.
